MARCOS PUHINGER PARA UNODEUNO
Original work "Memento Mori" by Marcos Puhinger
Original work "Memento Mori" by Marcos Puhinger
|
Memento Mori marks the origin of the brand's conceptual universe. It was the first work created specifically for UNODEUNO, at a time when the identity was not yet formalized, but there was a clear need for positioning: to act with awareness, intention, and responsibility.
It contains in embryonic form the DNA of UNODEUNO and establishes a clear line: UNODEUNO is not born from aesthetics, but from a stance, the emergence of a movement.
Specifically, Memento Mori is a work laden with symbolism in which immortality is presented as an excuse, a way to avoid making choices, taking risks, and taking no stand. If everything is eternal, nothing is urgent. Becoming aware of time compels us to live with intention. Eternity offers no protection to those who do not act.
Unlimited time. Limited liability.

THE WORK
- Dimensions: 122 x 107cm
- Technique: charcoal, pastel and charcoal on paper.
Above the depicted David, we see tattooed symbols such as the laurel wreath, which evokes overcoming adversity and inner triumph. On his chest, the hands ofThe Creation—those that Michelangelo placed in the Sistine Chapel— point here towards the center, covered by the diamond of UNODEUNO, to remind us that the creative impulse and the love for existence share the same origin.
At the level of the belly, two swallows—a symbol in various cultures of the soul's journey and connection with the spiritual—fly towards a Latin inscription:Memento Mori(“Remember that you will die”). On the neck, a “Fuck Art” reminds us that art is not a sacred object, but an act of provocation, truth and living energy.
David holds in his left hand our first watch: a symbol of time and the fleeting nature of life. Everything leads to the essential: we are just passing through, there is only one chance, and we must live it to the fullest. We are dust—like the charcoal with which the work was created—that can be transformed into creation, even if only for an instant.
